The Purpose

More Than Just Names in Stone.

The Polk County Law Enforcement Memorial exists to ensure that the “Supreme Sacrifice” is never met with silence. Located at Veterans Memorial Park in Lakeland, this sacred space serves as a bridge between the fallen and the community they died protecting. It is a place for families to find peace, for officers to find strength, and for citizens to find gratitude.

The Roll Call of Heroes.

37 heroes have laid down their lives in service to Polk County. Each name represents a life lived with purpose and a void left behind.

Our Services - The Living Memorial

Answering the Call to Remember.

Each year, we gather to ensure the names of our fallen officers are never forgotten. This solemn memorial brings together the families of the heroes who laid down their lives in the line of duty.

The ceremony serves as a powerful tribute to their courage, featuring a reading of each officer’s name, agency, and End of Watch (EOW). Families are escorted to the markers of their loved ones for a final, personal tribute, where a rose is laid in honor of their service.

Joined by local, state, and federal leadership, along with the unified presence of Polk County’s law enforcement agencies, we stand together in gratitude and grief. The service includes full honors, including the haunting strains of the bagpipes, a solemn 12-gun salute, and a commemorative helicopter flyover—a final salute to those who gave everything for our protection.
